My twin sister is the true queen of Aryd. She survives, hiding and clinging to life in the desert, while I reign as the false queen alongside the monstrous King Eidolon. There’s only one escape from this gilded prison: Reven. My Shadowraith. My heart. Only the shadows that he struggles to control are growing more sinister, more powerful.
It’s just a matter of time before they turn on him…and on me.
Even escape doesn’t mean true freedom, though, when we’re still on the run from Eidolon’s unstoppable armies. And when we discover there’s a traitor among us, I have no choice…I must become the queen I was never meant to be.
Because as one evil hunts me, the other loves me more than himself.
And my fate lies with both.

“Surety is a rare thing, I’m starting to realize.”

If you’re not busy on May 2nd, make plans to be. If you read The Liar’s Crown, The Stolen Throne needs to be at the top of your to-read list. The Stolen Throne is just as fast-paced, violent, and swoon-worthy as the first and I could not get enough of Maren, Reven, and co.
There is absolutely no rest mentally or physically for Maren in this installment. She is constantly fighting something whether it’s in her heart or against Eidolon. Regardless of how many times she wanted to give up, she continually fought for those around her who she holds dear and I loved to see it.
With the rest of the crew, I could not get enough of Maren’s assembled team. Bene was such an amazing addition and I’m excited to see more of him in The Shadows Rule All. Then we get to see so much more of Pella, Cain, Tziah, Vos, Horus… and honestly I loved each tense or fun moment.
“His belief in me is like nothing I’ve ever known. It’s the only thing making me keep going some days. And I trust him completely. Utterly. Not the Shadows…Reven. I would follow him into the hells and back.“
Abigail Owen. The Stolen Throne (Kindle Locations 6051-6053). Kindle Edition.
Finally, Reven…. oh Reven, you self-sacrificing, darkly delicious, perfect man, you. Reven is irrevocably everything. My heart was definitely all over the place. Abigail would get me so excited to only have me plummet back down to zero again so fast, and then continually throw us through the cycle again some more. I want a happily ever after for him so badly and I can only hope we get it in book 3.
Overall, The Stolen Throne, is a perfect second addition to this series. There is no stall in action, no break in agony, and no lull in small wins. Maren and Co.’s adventures continue flawlessly and I cannot WAIT to get my hands on The Shadows Rule all.
