Tension flows through this book like angsty teenagers. Nemesis reminded me of an older magical kingdom just developing into its prime with romance slightly weaved through. I will admit the story start a little slow, but built into a pressure-filled slew of events that I couldn’t help but keep turning the pages.
We start off with Sepora, who flees from her kingdom after her father makes it clear he wants to use her powers as a weapon. Along the way she gets thrown into a new kingdom and a new life she isn’t sure she wants. I have to admit, Sepora was consistently a little firecracker. She goes after what she wants and what she believes is right and that’s admirable. In Nemesis, we get dual POVs which I love and the other side of our story is from Tarik. Tarik, a young prince, who is also thrown into a new life takes a more gentle approach to life. I have to admit I loved watching these two grow together.
My one down note would be that it took about getting into the book about a third of the way before it picked up. I almost didn’t keep going, but I’m glad I did because once it picked up I couldn’t put it down. On the other side… I adored the Serpens and the large cats and the abilities we get to see along the way. Definitely will be looking forward to the next book in the series!
