Review – Awaken by: Skye Malone

Running away from home was never Chloe Kowalski’s plan. Neither was ending up the target of killers, or having her body change in unusual ways. She only wanted a vacation, someplace far from her crazy parents and their irrational fear of water. She only wanted to do something normal for once, and maybe get to know her best friend’s hot stepbrother a bit better at the same time.

But the first day she goes out on the ocean, strange things start to happen. Dangerous things that should be impossible. Things to which ‘normal’ doesn’t even begin to apply.

Now madmen are hunting her. A mysterious guy with glowing blue eyes is following her. And her best friend’s stepbrother seems to be hiding secrets all his own.

It was supposed to be a vacation. It’s turning out to be a whole lot more.

Awesome lore, thrilling story, and tons of characters to adore…I just loved Awaken! I admit, I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one and I am so glad I gave it a shot because I really loved it!!

With Chloe as our main character, I liked getting to discover everything as she did. There were a lot of moments I felt bad for her, but also commend her for being persistent in what she wanted and knew she needed. I’m looking forward to finding out more about her in future books!

I adored Noah right from the start. Hello, he has my blonde hair and green eye combo…insta-win for me! On top of that though, Noah is an all-around good guy. He listens, he likes to do outdoorsy things, and he’s protective. Just adored Noah and his adorable sweetness and hope to see much, much more of him in future books.

Zeke, I have to give it to him for being awesomely persistent. Regardless of not knowing Chloe, he still saves her at every chance he gets and has her best interest at heart. I know we’ll get to see more of him in book two and I’m looking forward to getting to know this sexy sea boy.

I really liked the story that Skye created in Awaken. It’s a topic we know and love but with new lore thrown in that made the story so much more interesting and I loved trying to figure it all out along the way. There even was a thrill factor that made the story even more gripping through the pages. Overall, I was super impressed with this one and I cannot wait to get my hands on the second one!
