Review – Darkside Sun by: Jocelyn Adams

Addison Beckett tries hard to pretend she’s normal, but she’s far from it. Since she was six years old, she’s seen the world around her unraveling, as if someone is pulling a thread from a sweater and it’s all slowly coming undone. When she ignores it, it goes away, so that’s what she does.

Enter her arrogant-but-hot professor Asher Green. He knows all about her special brand of crazy. In fact, he might be just as nuts as she is. Asher insists that the dead from a parallel dimension are trying to possess the living in this one. And since Addison seems to be the only one who can see these “wraiths,” she just might be the key to saving the world.

Addison wants nothing to do with Asher or his secret society, The Mortal Machine. But as their animosity grows, she finds it harder and harder to ignore the chemistry between them. And when she discovers that Machine laws forbid her from touching him, she realizes that’s all she wants to do. Stop the wraiths. Break the rules. Save the world. All in a day’s work. Normal was overrated, anyway.

I just can’t even get over how I feel right now. That end just shattered my heart like it shattered the characters. This book was absolutely amazing. Darkside Sun has easily become one of my favorite Entangled books and added to my top NA reads. With its amazing concept, a beyond delicious main boy, a snarky lead girl, tons of action, and a heart-shattering ending I wouldn’t put it down for anything.

Addison makes me love her as soon as we meet her. I love how she’s independent and adores her father. You can tell she’s smart and strong. Then when she starts to get into the world of the Mortal Machine, her strength only intensifies. I loved watching her snarky comments and ass-kicking moments. My heart broke for her in a lot of moments as well and I’m desperately awaiting future books to see what will happen with her. Oh, and her eyes… yeah, I am jealous and want them!

On the other side, Asher Green. Holy mother goodness of delicious hotness. I can’t even deal with how much I like Asher. He gets under your skin every moment, whether he’s being a jerk, staring intensely, or acting sexy as hell. Regardless of his hard exterior and rough past, you can see a heart inside Asher and I think that’s what kills me the most about him. I am dying for a happily ever after for Asher, and I better get it… just saying. 😉

When I say be ready for a wave of emotions with this book, I mean it with every fiber. This book will make you laugh, sit on the edge of you seat, fist-pump, swoon, and yes even break your heart. The concepts I adored. The settings and world building I adored. The whole gang of characters guess what… I adored them, too. I couldn’t love this book more if I tried and I am dying for the next book in the series because it needs to stitch back my heart after that ending. Darkside Sun builds and builds and holds your every attention and then it tears you apart at the seams. Truly a stunner of a book.
