Nesta Archeron has always been prickly – proud, swift to anger and slow to forgive. And since the war – since being made High Fae against her will – she’s struggled to forget the horrors she endured and find a place for herself within the strange and deadly Night Court.
The person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred, winged warrior who is there at Nesta’s every turn. But her temper isn’t the only thing Cassian ignites. And when they are forced to train in battle together, sparks become flame.
As the threat of war casts its shadow over them once again, Nesta and Cassian must fight monsters from within and without if they are to stand a chance of halting the enemies of their court. But the ultimate risk will be searching for acceptance – and healing – in each other’s arms.

“Your power is a song, and one I’ve waited a very, very long time to hear, Nesta.”

Fierceness in every form of the word comes to mind after reading this book. Nesta’s story is nothing short of misery, strength, and triumph. The whole gang is back through Nesta and Cassian’s eyes and I adored it.
I loved the relationship between Emerie, Gwyn, and Nesta. It was through them she realized that sometimes having a relationship is better than not having one. The fact that she realized this through friends versus love was a beautiful thing to see.
However, on the love front…Cassian, oh Cassian. I adored him in the first three books and was so happy to see him shine in ACOSF. He may be a brute, but he is also an all around amazing person. His patience with Nesta just proved him even more of a perfect man.
We also get to see more of the Night Court and the Illyerians which was a pleasant surprise. ACOSF is about coping with tough pasts, friendships, and of course lots of romance. I will say the last 25% of the book was the best. There was so much action and so many oh crap moments. I wish more of this was sprinkled throughout the book.
Overall a fabulous continuation of this amazing series. Sarah J. Maas’ writing is just stunning and really pulls you in. Can’t wait to see what comes next in this series! My guess is we will see the third sister finally stepping into the spotlight, but I guess time will tell…
