Review – The Traitor Queen by: Danielle L. Jensen

A queen now in exile as a traitor, Lara has watched Ithicana be conquered by her own father, helpless to do anything to stop the destruction. But when she learns her husband, Aren, has been captured in battle, Lara knows there is only one reason her father is keeping him alive: as bait for his traitorous daughter.

And it is bait she fully intends to take.

Risking her life to the Tempest Seas, Lara returns to Ithicana with a plan not only to free its king, but for liberating the Bridge Kingdom from her father’s clutches using his own weapons: the sisters whose lives she spared. But not only is the palace inescapable, there are more players in the game than Lara ever realized, enemies and allies switching sides in the fight for crowns, kingdoms, and bridges. But her greatest adversary of all might be the very man she’s trying to free – the husband she betrayed.

With everything she loves in jeopardy, Lara must decide who – and what – she is fighting for: her kingdom, her husband, or herself.

“Just because a choice is hard doesn’t mean you don’t make it.
– The Traitor Queen

What a satisfying, high-stakes adventure that I could not put down. The second book in this duology was everything I expected and more.

I absolutely adore Aren and Lara. The fighting scenes are marvelous and the steamy angst just makes you fall more in love with them. And my gosh do I love a strong and fierce but genuinely good guy. You cannot help but fall for Aren and everything he stands for. He is literally perfect.

Another thing, I loved is how in this second book we got to see more of the surrounding kingdoms and get introduced to even more fantastic characters that push the book to even higher heights. This world is one of my favorites I have read about in a while.

The ending was so satisfying and perfect, I could not have been happier with it. I am also so excited to see where Danielle L. Jensen is going to take our story line with new main characters. I am hoping we still see Aren, Lara, & co. in the future as well too! I highly recommend picking up this series.
