Review – A Little Too Far by: Lisa Desrochers

Have you ever gone just a little too far?

Lexie Banks has.

Yep. She just had mind-blowing sex with her stepbrother. In her defense, she was on the rebound, and it’s more of a my-dad-happened-to-marry-a-woman-with-a-super-hot-son situation. But still, he’s been her best friend and confidant for the better part of the last few years … and is so off limits. It’s a good thing she’s leaving in two days for a year abroad in Rome.

But even thousands of miles away, Lexie can’t seem to escape trouble. Raised Catholic, she goes to confession in hopes of alleviating some of her guilt … and maybe not burning in hell. Instead, she stumbles out of the confessional and right into Alessandro Moretti, a young and very easy-on-the-eyes deacon … only eight months away from becoming a priest. Lexie and Alessandro grow closer, and when Alessandro’s signals start changing despite his vow of celibacy, she doesn’t know what to think. She’s torn between falling in love with the man she shouldn’t want and the man she can’t have. And she isn’t sure how she can live with herself either way.

Screw what anyone says about taboo topics… I freaken love this book and everything about it. I was so happy with the outcomes of every situation and I truly believe that you should never be afraid of who you love, because no one can help who they fall in love with. If you’re willing to take the leap, then jump. This book was pure sexiness, and fun, and full of angst, and I honestly could not put it down. I mean I was literally walking the grocery store and reading it! So happy that this was my first book of the new year!

In the beginning of the book where Lexie starts off with Rick, I instantly clicked with her. I know that situation and couldn’t help but put myself in her shoes. Then, when she goes to Rome, I loved watching her have the confidence to take that leap. Plus, the art aspect in her, I just adored. Of course while she’s there she meets the handsome Alessandro, and I love the ease of these two. Alessandro has such a back story and troubles of his own to fight and I loved watching these two figure out where their hearts truly are.

There’s also her step-brother Trent. Oh my musical god, sexy Trent, you. I loved him the moment we meet him. You instantly can tell that he’s got a perfect heart, that he always has and always will be one of the good guys. I was constantly, while reading saying to myself, ‘Okay, where’s the next Trent scene?’ Because I needed more, I constantly wanted more Trent! I was rooting for him from the very beginning. UNF!

The ending. Oh my the ending… just so gosh darn satisfying. I absolutely love when a book ends the way you want it to. When the story and ride as a whole just pulls so much emotion from you and then at the end you’re sighing with contentment. Believe me, it’s not an easy road to get there and I absolutely ADORE that Lisa Derochers had the guts to take a taboo topic and not only write about it… but ace it. I loved every part of this book and will definitely being buying the next two, ASAP!

  1. I've heard of this book here and there but I have to admit, the taboo topics…I'm not sure about that haha but if you said she ace it I believe you 😉 It sounds interesting and different, I like that.
