Sweet Peril by: Wendy Higgins

Synopsis: Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

Thoughts: I just can’t even. My emotions basically want to party all over the east coast because of how much I loved this book. I felt all the emotions that I know Wendy worked so hard to make not just for her character’s sins but for us to feel as well. I loved every single sweet bit of Sweet Peril; It’s fast-paced, exciting, thrilling, and oh so sexy.

So two characters I absolutely adore: Anna and Blake. Anna I love how she’s become so much stronger. That though she’s tempted to do “evil” things, but fun things might I add, she remains good at heart through out it all. One of the things I love most about her is her love for Kaidan. She doesn’t just brush it off and go “oh, we’re not meant to be too bad, so sad”. No, she constantly fights for him and I love that about her. Then there’s Blake. Blake is one of those characters a story needs. He’s so easy-going, carefree, fun, good-looking, and all around just the perfect guy. I absolutely adore every scene with him in it.

Oh Kaidan Rowe. I don’t even know where to start. You. Are. Perfect. Truly, he is. Let me just rehash this real quick… he’s British, tall, shaggy hair, built, a drummer, blue eyes… Do I need to continue? I think not. On top of that, our brooding bad boy is there but in Sweet Peril we get to see another whole side to Kaidan. One that I absolutely fell in love with. He is definitely in my top five book boyfriends, for sure.

Finally, Wendy Higgins, you beautiful writer, you. Can I just tell you how happy it makes me when an author can make a second book just as amazing at the first? When an author can NOT have the love interest in every other chapter and the book is still brilliant to the point where you can’t put it down. When the author makes you feel all the feels along with the characters. Makes you love all those characters. When an author makes your heart break and then puts all the pieces back together and glues them up. I honestly commend Wendy for the amazing story she put together and the absolutely lovely writing.

When I say I’m hanging onto the edge of my seat, will do anything for a sequel… It’s an understatement. I absolutely cannot wait to get the final installment. Though I know my heart may burst and I’ll be sad the series is ending, I just cannot get enough of this world… and Blake, and Anna, and Kaidan, and every body else. Absolutely loved Sweet Peril!
