Synopsis: Virginity.
Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible– a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if if that weren’t embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She’d left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.
Thoughts: I love this book. I love this book. I freaking love this book. There’s so many times when something is forbidden the character doesn’t get it but ends up with something else that is “better”. Finally, here’s a story where the main character actually gets what she wants… what she should have. I loved everything about this story. The characters, the romance, the age group, the friends, the story… Everything was just done so brilliantly.
Yeah, virginity doesn’t seem like a thing that is very valued nowadays. I, however, was always one of those people who wanted to do it with the “right” person and not lose it just to lose it… no pun intended. Cora does such a good job of depicting virginity for what it is though. It usually is a scary thing to contemplate about and I think Bliss’s story unfolds beautifully through this story. It’s not just about her losing her virginity. It’s Bliss’s story of her love life, her school life, and most importantly about herself.
Speaking of, I absolutely adored Bliss as our main character. She was the perfect mix of fun yet held back. Then there’s Garrick Taylor… OH MY GOD SEX. I just don’t even know where to begin to explain how much I adored him and everything about him. He’s sweet, and intelligent, and beautiful, and hello he is British!! I love that he gets jealous, that a real man with real feelings and Cora wasn’t afraid to show us that side of him. Could not have loved him more.
If you haven’t read this book yet, you’re missing out! It’s beautifully written laced with a brilliant story filled with romance, humor, and real life problems. I absolutely loved it from begin to end and would definitely recommend it a million times over.
