Theme Song Thursday

Hey lovely followers! So if you know me or follow my blog, you know I love music. I love lyrics, and sexy voices, and meaningful songs. And even though there are probably tons of music meme’s out there I’ve decided to start my own! Because I already tend to link songs I love to books.

It’s called (yep you guessed it) THEME SONG THURSDAY! What I plan on doing is picking a book that I have read or am currently reading. And I’ll choose a song (or maybe two if I can’t choose) that I think really describes the book. Whether it be the lyrics or the music, or something else!
Helping me out today with posts of their own are two of my favorites:

Β and

So go check out their posts as well!! πŸ™‚ Now without further adieu… my Theme Song Thursday!
The book I’ve chosen to do this week is Sweet Evil by: Wendy Higgins.
I debated really hard between two books, but the song I’ve chosen for this book, actually means a lot to me, so that is why Sweet Evil ultimately won.
The Song I’ve Chosen: Blinding by: Florence + The Machine
Β ____
The Lyrics & Why I Chose The Song:
“Seems that I have been held, in some dreaming state
A tourist in the waking world, never quite awake
No kiss, no gentle word could wake me from this slumber
Until I realize that it was you who held me under.”
Β I feel like this describes perfectly where Anna starts out in the beginning of the book. “Being held in some dreaming state” I think describes how innocent she was in the beginning, how much of a good girl she was. And until she meet Kaidan, she realizes what she’s been missing.

Felt it in my fist, in my feet, in the hollows of my eyelids
Shaking through my skull, through my spine and down through my ribs
These are probably two of my three favorite lines in the whole song.Β  And I think these lines describe two things. One: when Anna finally realizes that she’s completely falling for Kaidan. That she wants him so badly. And, two: When she finally gives in to the dangerous side of who she is. She enjoys it and likes it and she can feel that it’s who she is.
No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone
No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world
UGH.Β  This Chorus. I’m in love with it. For my own selfish reasons, yep. But I do think it goes so well with Sweet Evil as well.Β
With “no more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone” for Sweet Evil, I think of Anna leaving her old life behind. It’s dead now. And she has a new world, one of sin that she’s now in.
“No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in a garden.” This is another of my favorite lines in the song. And who do I think of when I hear it in terms of Sweet Evil? Yep, you guessed it Kaidan. And I think this quote from the book sums up perfectly what I think….Β
“Now I understood what Kai tried to get me to see: There was nothing healthy about desperately wanting something you couldn’t have. I would never have a husband or childrean. He would never have the freedom to let himself be loved. And each time we saw each other was a painful reminder of those facts.”
And then the last lines, “no more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world”. Anna knows better now. She has no idea what life has in store for her now, but her old life is gone. And being in love with someone who you can’t have, isn’t any good.
All around the world was waking, I never could go back.
Definitely Anna’s new world. There is no running for her now. No going back. She’s in the sinful world, and she’s in deep.
Now, shying away from the lyrics. I think the sound of the song fits Sweet Evil perfectly too. It’s dark and somewhat eerie and sad. I just love the feel of it for the book. I can definitely hear it playing in my head when I re-read the end of the book.
So what do you think? Do you agree with me if you’ve read the book? Do you like the song? Do you have any thoughts of your own… any other song suggestions for the book. Or why you like the lyrics of this song for the book?
And also! What do you think of Theme Song Thursday. Let me know! πŸ™‚
