Contract killer Lachlan Kane wants a quiet life working in his leather studio and forgetting all about his traumatic past. But when he botches a job for his boss’s biggest client, Lachlan knows he’ll never claw his way out of the underworld. At least, not until songbird Lark Montague offers him a deal: use his skills to hunt down a killer and she’ll find a way to secure his freedom. The catch? He has to marry her first.
And they can’t stand each other.
Indie singer-songwriter Lark is the sunshine and glitter that burns through every cloud and clings to every crevice that Lachlan Kane tries to hide inside. The surly older brother of her best friend’s soulmate, Lachlan thinks she’s just a privileged princess, but Lark has plenty of secrets hiding in the shadows of her bright light. With her formidable family in a tailspin and her best friend’s happiness on the line, she’s willing to make a vow to the man she’s determined to hate, no matter how tempting the broody assassin might be.
As Lachlan and Lark navigate the dark world that binds them together, it becomes impossible to discern their fake marriage from a real one. But it’s not just familiar dangers that haunt them.
There’s another phantom lurking on their doorstep.
And this one has come for blood.

“You’re my wife, Lark Kane,” Lachlan whispers, his breath hot against my neck before he presses a lingering kiss to my skin. “And I’m not letting you go.”
Thrilling, murderous, and all sorts of sexy… Leather & Lark was the perfect push-in back into this world of the Kane brothers. I just love Brynne Weaver’s uncanny ability to mix murder with romance… it’s *chef’s kiss*.
“My Wife”. What those words do to me… holyyyyy panty dropper. A lot of it has to do with the way Lachlan Kane says it in the audiobook too because hearing an Irish accent say “my wife” and truly meaning it was all sorts of sexy. Lachlan Kane is honestly everything in this book. I love his attitude, protectiveness, and honestly, just every move he makes. The way he fights for Lark even with their push and pull was so perfect.
“You’re brave as hell. But you’re my person, Lark. I can’t do this without you.”
This series is definitely one of my favorites. I adore how unique it is. Especially in the way Brynne can take mundane things (ice cream, pizza, DIY, teeth…) and make us second guess all our life choices, ha! A fantastic second book and I cannot WAIT for Scythe & Sparrow for more Rose and Fionn. With that tidbit at the end she gave us for those two… ugh I will be counting down the days!
