A dangerous alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha Werewolf becomes a love deep enough to sink your teeth into in this new paranormal romance from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Love, Theoretically and The Love Hypothesis.
Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast—again. Her days of living in anonymity among the Humans are over: she has been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres, and she sees little choice but to surrender herself in the exchange—again…
Weres are ruthless and unpredictable, and their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, is no exception. He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice. And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. It’s clear from the way he tracks Misery’s every movement that he doesn’t trust her. If only he knew how right he was….
Because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances, and everything to do with the only thing she’s ever cared about. And she is willing to do whatever it takes to get back what’s hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territory…alone with the wolf.

“You know what makes Alphas good leaders?” he asks without looking up.
“No clue.”
He huffs out a laugh. “Neither do I. But at times, there are decisions that feel right, deep in the marrow of my bones.” He wets his lips. “You are one of them.”
Unlike anything I’ve read from Ali Hazlewood. Bride still had her signature humor and quirks throughout but I just loved this sexy, primitive fantasy world she threw us into.
I absolutely love Lowe Moreland. He is alpha everything. He’s tall, strong, kind, caring, and literally just the whole package wrapped up in one. In my mind, Ali literally made him the PERFECT book husband. On the other side we have Misery (our Vampyre). Misery was very quirky. However, as a vampyre who is supposed to show no emotion, then forced to grow up with humans and then ends up in Ware territory… so, I suppose it’s justified. I did love watching Misery grow into a person she can be proud of and finally find somewhere she belongs.
“My smell. Do I smell like . . . ?”
“Mine.” It’s a rumble in his throat. “You smell like you’re mine, Misery.”
This story has such a great storyline with awesome twists and heart-bending moments. The world Ali created here is so futuristically animalistic and I ate it up. Overall, this is a stunner from Ali Hazlewood and with the way it ended, I can only hope she gives us more in this world.

Thank you to Berkley & Netgalley for an early eArc of this one!
