A forbidden, timeless, and haunting love story.
Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Fallon who was taken far away from home shortly after she was born.
A home that held more than strange traditions and bizarre superstitions.
Twenty-four years later, she returned to Weeping Hollow, a town she’d only heard about in stories during restless nights under a marble moon, in the middle of the night to take care of her last living relative.
They called the nosy mortician a freakshow–a ghastly thing.
They said I couldn’t go near her.
Still, there was this aching pull to Fallon Grimaldi that I couldn’t escape.
A nostalgic pull as if we’d been here before.
Once upon a time, there lived a mysterious boy named Julian with a curse as old as centuries wrapped around his soul.
He was one of the four Hollow Heathens, the very dark creatures who caused the town’s people to live in fear.
And the Blackwell name was stained with darkness and death.
They called him a monster. Cold and hollow.
They said I shouldn’t go near him.
Still, there was this aching pull to Julian Blackwell that I couldn’t escape.
A nostalgic pull as if we’d been here before.

“My head was somewhere else: rocks, crashing deep blue waters, an animal skull, and silver-gray eyes.”
What a gothically dark and delicious story. I ate up this 500-page story like it was a novella because it was THAT good. Hollow Heathens is every bit of cursed woods, witchy vibes, and swoon-worthy romance.
I could not get enough of Fallon and Julian. Fallon has never truly belonged anywhere and has always felt like an outsider. We have all been in situations where we have felt like that and to go through life for 24 years feeling that HAS to be hard. I commended her so much throughout this story for putting everyone in their place, including Julian. Ohhhhh Julian. Julian is every bit of the tortured hero we burn to love. He is all dark, but underneath it all he is all light and goodness. I loved these two so much and was constantly rooting for them no matter what was thrown their way.
We also meet a bunch of side characters that are so crucial to the storyline. I loved the role that so many of them played like the Heathens (particularly Beck), Monday, Kane, Gramps, Mina, and more! One who really intrigued me the most and I honestly hope we see a lot more of him in the future is Jonah. Jonah was like the silent but gentle protector and I want more!
“You jumped off the cliff and saved me. I thought you were afraid of heights?”
“I suppose I found something else I was more afraid of,” I admitted…
Even more so, the haunting and magical story that Nicole Fiorina made was exceptionally done in such an enchanting way. The characters, the setting, the town, and the story were all so dark but I could not get enough. I will absolutely be moving up Bone Island up on my TBR because I need to stay in this world.
