Review – Confess by: Colleen Hoover

Auburn Reed is determined to rebuild her shattered life and she has no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to become deeply attracted to the studio’s enigmatic artist, Owen Gentry.

For once, Auburn takes a chance and puts her heart in control, only to discover that Owen is hiding a huge secret. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything Auburn loves most, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it—but can she do it?

I love Colleen Hoover’s uncanny ability to wreck me. Even if the book has a feel good ending, she always weaves something in to slightly break your heart. Confess is nothing short of emotional perfection.

Owen and Auburn’s stories are so equally heartbreaking yet they both have grown into strong, self-sacrificing adults. I loved watching their lives intertwine. They are both such good people at heart just stuck in horrible situations.

Colleen Hoover’s writing always speaks to me as well. It’s not necessarily dark, but her characters come off “broken” or that they are at the bottom of their well and there’s something about it that draws me in. It makes me feel so much when I read their thoughts and wheel vast of emotions.

Overall, Confess is yet another of Hoover’s stories that will stick with me for a long time. I will continue to always pick up her books because I honestly love the way she forces you to feel each detail.
