Synopsis: For seventeen years, Eloise Hart had no idea the world of Faery even existed. Now she has been abducted and trapped in the Rath of Lord Strahan, King of Faery. Strahan was only meant to rule for seven years, as Faery tradition dictates, and then give up his crown to another. But he won’t comply, and now chaos threatens both worlds.
The only one who can break his stranglehold on the Faery court is his wife. . . Eloise’s aunt Antonia. Using Eloise to lure Antonia, Strahan captures his wife, desperate to end the only threat to his reign. Now Eloise must become the rescuer. Together with her best friends Jo and Devin, she must forge alliances with other Fae, including a gorgeous protector named Lucas, and Strahan’s mysterious son, Eldric-who may or may not betray them.
Thoughts: I have to admit this is my first Alyxandra Harvey book that I’ve read. And no wonder everyone raves over her books. Stolen Away was a quick-paced story with tons of adventure, romance, and laughs. I loved it.
The story is told from two POVs, best friends, Eloise and Jo. Eloise lives a normal seventeen year old life with her best friends Jo and Devin until she meets the gorgeous Lucas. He seems to be following her and she cannot figure out why until she’s literally stolen away by Lord Strahan. It’s then she realized that the world of Faery exists, and Lucas and her Aunt Antonia is apart of it. Then there’s Jo. Jo is outgoing and for the most part care-free. Then she meets mysterious and sexy Eldric, she knows something is different about him but she doesn’t know what. Until her best friend Eloise is taken and she fights to get her back. She realized that Eldric is King Strahan’s son. And, Eloise and Jo, will need to fight to help Antonia and the Fae.
When I first realized I was getting duel POVs of best friends I was kind of surprised. Most of time duel POVs tend to be boy/girl. I’m not going to lie… I was a little skeptical of reading Jo’s POV at first, but you know what, I found myself loving her story just at much (maybe more) than Eloise’s. Both girl’s stories are filled with thrills, twists, and even though their journey’s are intertwined they each have separate adventures too. I have to be honest and say, I think, that my favorite character over all was Eldric. I absolutely loved his role through-out the book. He can be so stoic at times, yet others you can just feel the passion pouring off of him. He was mysterious yet loving at the same time. I was so happy with Jo and Eloise’s stories.
The one thing I loved that Alyxandra did was that she didn’t leave the friends behind. A lot of times you see the main character pulled into a new world, and then the friends kind-of get left behind. Not in this story. Jo and Devin are right by Eloise’s side in this magical story. I also loved the uniqueness of the lore created. The animal shifting = SO COOL. I totes wish I could do that.
Overall, I truly enjoyed this story and will definitely be picking up more of Alyxandra’s book in the future!
PS. I love the cover! The colors are just gorgeous!
